Default what cam to use

I want to install a mild cam but am confused on what cam to go with. The car will see almost no track use just want more power.

What cam, and what kind of gains would it make with stock heads and LS6 intake, with headers and gear.

you could gain anywhere from 30-80 hp. Just depends on how big you want to go. I think something like the TR224 is a decent cam. I bet you pick up around 50hp with that and headers and its not too big.

I just came back from the Corvette CLinic in San Jose CA. I also asked the same question on cams and heads. You have to remember that since we live in Calif. that we have to have our cars smogged checked and if it doesn't pass, then no registration to drive the car. The bigest cam that you should put in your car as I was advised, is a cam with the duration not exceeding 218 degs. and a lift of no more than .560 inch. The duration being the most important to follow. The owner of the shop has that cam and a set of heads in his car among other goodies and is making 420 rwhp and is still smog legal which is the maing thing to watch for.

best of luck

The LS6 cam is a popular choice for many LS1 owners. Also, LPE has some stealthy cams. Contact 21st century if you are interested in one of them.

MTI has some nice cams. I'm really looking at their X1 230/227 112 lsa.
