Im new to the corvette game and would like to know what the best mods to do are. Ive got a 00 FRC 6 speed and would like to know what to do first. Whats the best exehaust setup/shifter/bolt ons?
I also have a 98 Camaro that has some how turned into a weekend race car. So i do know my poopie when it comes to the ls1 motor. THe MPG killes me on the camaro so I dont need any h/c posts. I want to keep it simple but still quick.
I have an '00 coupe, if I started over I would go in this order:
Radar/Laser detector/diffuser
Exhaust (Corsa my fav)
Airbox (a virtual plethera)
LS6 Intake Manifold (good one for your Camaro too, +7rwhp conservative)
Headers (TPIS, Belangers)
Programming
LS6 clutch (you'll need it by this point!)
For a dozen extra ponies and a nice sound without going crazy, the K&N FIPK air box and the corsa exhaust really complement the car nicely, and won't break your bank.
Caveat:
If you do nothing else with the air box, at least put a K&N filter in it.
If you plan on going a long way on the mods, I would get the whole headers/exhaust done from the get go. If I had to do this over again, I would probably get stainlessworks complete system.
Aftermarket shifters introduce issues of their own. Headers, long tubes, introduce heat issues as well as possible fit/vibration problems. I'm not recommedning against them, just caveats. ;)

Some people sell shortened stock shifters - I have one and love it.
Im thinking ill just go with Long tubes and a full exhaust. Whats the best flowing setup for these cars? I have B&B Tri-Flow on my camaro and it is VERY restrivtive. How does it rank on the corvette. I love the way it sounds and the look of the tips.

Talking about your favorite exhaust system is like talking about politics around here, BUT, I have never been one to kittyfoot around that stuff so :jester : B&B might = resonance. Corsa = no resonance. As far as the other brands, well, be carefull of resonance. Also, I'll repeat myself, get a cold air intake if you want to add a few ponies for cheap. The stock air intake setup is very restrictive. The B&B will probably be less restrictive than the OEM so you will gain some HP. Two years ago, Jason at MTI told us that he had dyno'd every aftermarket exhaust for the C5 and they all were about the same, they added 8 RWHP. A good cold air intake will gain approx 15 HP.
Either get one of the $30 eliminators, or if you're cheap like me  , get a 2200 ohm resistor, some electrical tape, and a zip tie to get the same effect.
