Is it bad for the engine when RPMs dip below 500 for a split second?
I drive in a heavy freeway traffic on the way to work each morning... drive a few feet, then brake.. drive a few more feet, and so on. I'll step on the gas a little to move that few feet, and the RPM's will drop a little under 500 for a split second after I let off the gas. In that split second, the engine feels like it's about to choke and die, but the RPMs will then pick back up to 500-600 and idles fine. This started happening after installing a torque converter (2800 stall), so the RPMs are a little higher. Is this bad for the engine? Thanks

IAC's will affect your start up when not moving. If you don't want to raise the idle(25 rpm), RAF is what you need to adjust in the 80 and 100 C temps. Raising RAF also controls the "cruise effect" and that may be an unintended consequence. A tuner can do each very quickly and let you decide. I had the same issue when the only mods were TC and gears. I liked the slightly higher idle.
