A4 Converter clutches
Ok I am a little confused with them as far as what happens when they lock up and release. When the clutch locks up, do that not allow there to be minimum slippage within the converter so that more power can be transferred to the wheels? Is there any reasons why you would only want to lock the converter at higher speeds rather than lower?

Yea - when you lock them up very little if any tranny fluid passes through the converter - thus heat is generated (and isnt desired) - so they only lock them up @ WOT in 3rd (and some in 4th).
If you did it in 1st or 2nd you would just spin off the road or track.. :D
