Guys, I got a 3.42 installed today. The mechanics at the dealership told me to take it easy on the acceleration for the first 200 miles to let the gears "mate" and not to get over about 70 mph during this break-in period. However, I think my speedemeter is off. I thought I was only going 70mph on the way home, but I was passing everyone up. When I got to a redlight, I asked the guy next to me to wave when he got to 40--I was only at 34mph. During the reprogramming, we had a problem with the Predator Diablo and they had to email us a file to fix the shift points. They had told us at first to change the tire size. Maybe I need to go back and change this again. Anyway, I seem to recall some threads where you guys said that a C5 does NOT need to have the speedometer reprogrammed. I've got a call into the service manager and I'm sure he'll call later today or in the morning. Any comments??
I put 3.42 gears in a long time ago (w/2900 stall). I had a heck of a time with my speedometer. I finally got a programmer from TTS and now my speedometer is correct. I'm not familiar with diablo but I would say it the speedometer needs to be adjusted.
I talked to the guys that did the install today. They're going to call Predator tommorrow and figure out what I need to reprogram. They say the Predator is easy to use, but I'm sure I'll screw something up!! With my speedometer and HUD showing low speeds, it's making me want to drive faster! This isn't good.
Mike, I think this is what happened. Originally, we had trouble getting the shift settings to work properly. We called Predator and they told us to change the tire sizes. This didn't fix the problem, so they emailed us and exec file which seems to have done the trick. I'm thinking the changed tire size was left in. Hopefully, this will be a simple fix.
We called Predator and they told us to change the tire sizes.
I am shocked; since DiabloSport knows fully how the C5 system works... unless they were giving you a band-aid repair just to get you home for the evening.
Me too! I would go to Predator tune and change the tire size back to stock. That should fix your problem but it won't help in your quest not to drive faster. That is just the nature of the beast, but it's a good thing!    :auto:
