Re: Valve spring compressor tool? (PewterC5)
Anyone know where I can get one of these or know of a better alternative?
Any tips on where I can find a cheap spark plug hole fitting for my compressed air hose to keep the valves in place?
TIA,

It looks like the unit manufactured by Lisle Corp and sold at many auto parts stores. I've seen one with a wooden handle and one without. I think even Sears carries some of the Lisle line too.
The spark plug hole/air fitting is also available at a number of auto parts stores too. HTH

i made one out of an old shorty flat head crow bar. Works good. But, difficult to work around the cowl when doing #8 intake or #7 exhaust spring. So, I ordered a cool little tool from More Performance: http://www.moreperformanceinc.com/
you can see it is pricey at $130, but a nice tool to have. Or you can take an old rocker and make this tool yourself.
Yup, that's my hand in the picture! You can get that from any Napa for about $15. You'll want to consider chopping it down in length just above the hole in the handle. That should make it work just fine. I used a long bolt to draw it down, others use threaded rod. Either one will work, just make sure that you feel confident enough that you have enough threads engaged and crank away. As your cranking down just take a small plastic hammer and tap the lock to get the retainers to unsnap. That's about it.
PewterC5, I just MSG'd you. I have a brand new style valve spring compressor that just hit he market I wanna try out on some springs and I'd be more than happy to help. I also have access to 2 other styles of compressors so I think I could probably cover all your bases there :)
Check your PM's and email me at the address I sent you.
