This is the only item left in the powertrain that i have not R&R'ed with my own bare hands. I will be pulling it real soon in order to ship it for new gears. Was wondering if there is any particular caveats i need to be aware of before i drop the rear girdle. Thanks.
I had mine replaced by Chevy and I remember the tech telling me that they
just lowered it slightly and pulled it to the rear a few inches in order to swap
it out. I do know that you must be very careful when you lower it to prevent
the intake manifold from doing damage to the firewall (as the engine tilts).
There is a sticker inside the driveshaft tunnel on mine warning of this.I think you also must loosen the brake lines from the underside of the rear tub where
they attach to the studs to secure them. It took him about 3 hours to do the swap.
