Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (knesbitt)
If your talking about stock Goodyear EMT's then the answer is no, if your talking about any other tire then just look at the sidewall if there is an arrow showing the rotation direction then you can't put that on the other side of the car because obviously it would be turning the wrong direction.

If your talking about Goodyear EMT's the answer is yes.. Not no... the tires are directional.. but you can but them on either side as long as the directional arrow is in the right place.... Yo can NOT however take a mounted tire from the right side and put it on the left side... you can take an unmounted tire and mount it on either side..

:iagree:
The tires can be swapped side to side, but will need to be dismounted from the rims, and remounted so that the arrow is facing forward on the respective side.
Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (knesbitt)
The tires I hav are used from another forum member. How do I know which side the tire was mounted on?
Unless he marked them before they were dismounted, you probably won't be able to tell...Only way I can think of is look for tire dressing, or scuffs that would indicate the side facing out when they were original mounted.
Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (wkasak_98Coupe)
Great. So either unmounted tire can go on the left or right side. The rim is the only part that cannot be swapped from side to side? Am I correct about the rim?
Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (Evil-Twin)
The rims can also be swapped...you just can't swap a rim WITH tire mounted, because that would change the direction of the tire's rotation. If you want to take the tire off the rim and re-mount it the right way then that would be okay.
Of course you can't swap front tires or rims with rear because they are just different sizes...before anyone asks.

Where do you get this from?
You can put the GY EMTs on either the left or right. The only concern is the direction or rotation. This tire is symetrical and directional. Symetric means there isn't an inside or outside to the tread design and directional means it is designed to roll in a certain direction.
To "rotate" the EMTs you need to dismount them and flip them on the rims. Because of the pressure sensors it's just as easy to swap rims and tires.

I think you are confusing the EMTs with the asymmetrical tire that is stock on the Z06. As long as the tire has a symmetrical tread (the EMTS and most modern tires using tread block do) you can mount them on either side. Of course you would have to take them off the rim. A good way to check a tire to see if it is asymmetrical is to see if it has separate part numbers for right and left side.
"The tires for McLaren and Ferrari vehicles feature very large tread blocks formed into asymmetric and directional tread designs. Since each of these vehicles uses different front and rear tire sizes, they all require four separate “corner specific” tires."
Look on the size and pricing page and the non-corvette sized are denoted as left/right specific.
I take this as the Mclaren and Ferrari sizes are directional while Corvette isn't.
Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (knesbitt)
Be aware IF you switch rims (with tires demounted) nfrom one side to another, you will have to relearn the tire air pressure sensors with a magnet or else they will indicate the wrong side.
Re: Are Right and Left Tires Interchangeable (Oldvetter)
Smething to aware of is the difference between asymetrical and directional tires. Directional tires must rotate in one direction. Asymetrical tires have different patterns on the outer and inner tread surfaces. Some tires are marked 'inside' and 'outside' regardless of being directional or asymetrical.
A non-directional, asymetric tire (Z06??) can be rotated left to right without dismounting from the rim.
A directional, asymetric tire can only be rotated front to back if they are the same size (C4verts??). If the fronts and rears are different sizes (later C4's) you have 4 corner specific tires.
Remember about the tire pressure sensors ans noted above....
