Default 3:15 rear

I presently have a 99 auto with 2:73's, would I fele the difference going to 3:15's , and is it worth the install price. I'm just a cruiser that wants an occssional jump from a standstill, thanks Jim.

I've driven both the 2.73 and 3.15. There is a SOTP increase in acceleration with the 3.15

I would suggest also looking at the 3.42 ratio as well. With your 2.73 original setup, there's no way to avoid reprogramming the PCM... so you might as well look into other ratios since you'll need to reprog ayways.

Seems to be that the 3.42 is as radical as one can go in an A4 while still using run-flat type tires.

Mario is gonna prove that wrong, we are installing a Getrag 3.73 with Yank SY-3500 in his Mil. Yellow Vert. Car already has Vortex, Long Tubes, no cats, Stingers, and other goodies. I cannot wait to drive in it, I went with the more civilized 3.42's and considering the Yank upgrade.

If you are considering a 3.15, Mario is willing to sell his for 400.00 shipped. It off a 2003 with less than 5k Miles. Thats the entire unit !

and factory GY run-flats???? This is going to be interesting. I would be shocked if he is able to do a no-brainer launch (from a stop... mash the accelerator down to the floor) and not cook the tires.

It would be fun though :)

before mine was totalled, I'd planned on 3.73s with a hi-stall converter, but tires are a MUST with that combo......NO WAY anyone will get traction on runflats with that setup :)

I suggest an upgrade to a 3.42 rear cause any taller gears and highway drivability suffers, IMHO. I'm really happy with my switch from the 2.73 to 3.42 rear. My mpgs did not change all that much & at 75mph the tach is around 2200rpms. I'm staying with the factory Goodyear EMT's for now it will be awhile before I do the TC mod. Next is the LGM LT Header system for my C5. Just waiting for the production line to become available.

I just went from 2.73's to 3.42's in my 98 A4. I don't think 3.15's would have been enough and 3.73's might have been a little too much for my type of driving. The 3.42's worked out perfectly.
