Pull key, wait 10 seconds doesn't make any sense for me
Lately, everytime the car sits for a few days I get the "Pull key, wait 10 seconds" warning. Not only do I have the column lock bypass installed for the last two years, but the dealership did the 'column lock recall' on my car when it was in for service. After I drive the car, I never get the warning again that day. Any ideas? I don't have any codes set. This is a recent occurance. Never happened over the last two years.

There may be something wrong in your wiring. I installed HID into my vette and threw that message along with a number of others when a relay wasn't properly grounded. Check your grounds, otherwise I haven't a clue. I also have the bypass installed.

I did have to replace the battery prior to this showing up. I heard the relays buzzing a lot when I tried to start the car when the battery was weak. How do you know if you have a bad relay?

This message usually appears if the resistor pellet on the key isn't "read" properly when starting the car. It is not necessarily anything to do with the column lock. Try cleaning the pellet with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip, or if you have another key, try using that one and see if your problem diasappears.
C5's are known to do weird things when the battery goes dead, so it could be related to that as well.

Thanks, Vert4me. I'll give that a try. I just don't want any surprises on the trip to and from Nashville. If this persists, I'm assuming my GM extended warranty will cover it.

Thanks again. I used the method you suggested, plus the one I use to have to use on my C4 (White pencil eraser). Went out and cranked the car with no ugly messages this morning.
