I have a 98 C5. Just this week I have started to get a C1281 "Steering Sensor Uncorrelated Malfunction". Im not good with cars and my dealer have told me They cant help! Is there anyone in the Chicago Land area (a dealer or shop) that I could take it into to ghet it fixed, or is this something that I can just let slide? :mad
I read your other post, is it an automatic? Do you still have the GM Delco battery? Do you get any other unrelated codes? Do you experience any driving problems such as the trans 'searching' on the freeway or just getting codes?
I think my buddy had that. IT has to do with the traction control system. There is a steering position sensor that knows where the wheel is and how much you are turning it. They replaced the sensor three times. It also affected the power steering ratio.
Recently had the same problem. The steering wheel sensor will need to be replaced. If you do a search on here, there is a great post on how to do it yourself. Otherwise if you are like me (mechanically challenged), find a dealer who can do it for you.
Yes its am automatic. and yes I still have the GM Delco battery. The only other codes I am getting are the P1571 and the C1277. From what I am getting from the other posts is that these sound all related to eachother. Im going to print these out and call a new dealer for help. :)
