This A4 makes a clunking [rrrrrrrk] noise when manually downshifted from about 40 MPH for engine braking. It also delays the shift slightly. Does second gear lock up a band or a clutch? Is this used for any other gear? Can it be adjusted? I have downshifted this car for engine braking for 4 yrs. Hvve done it to other cars all the time and never had a problem.
Please help me figure out what is wrong and how to fix it.
The 4L60E SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's WEAK! Probablt fried a clutch pack or something. I'm suprised it has lasted this long manually downshifting like that.
I had a FLP Level IV Tranny and it's SOLID as a rock :D You can beat the hell out of it without issues :D

If you ever wanna mod your car.....start with the FLP tranny and a good TC.
I did install the FLP 3 years ago.........and always was happy.
And it had to take a lot .......... :D
Night and day :D The FLP has quick, firm up and downshifts with virtually no drop in rpms between shifts :D Plus, it is built with basically all heavy duty parts. There are MANY on this Forum with the FLP tranny....some running 200-300 shots of nitrous and big stroker motors without any failures :D
Thanks Buckmaster, does the car drive different with the FLP? How is it different?
Thanks, Daniel :D
If you do or plan on making some horsepower, 450+ rwhp, I would seriuosly consider the Yank Turbo conversion kit. Even a fully built 4L60E will break at some point in time. If the Yank kit would have come out about 1 month earlier, I would have done that rather than rebuilding my 4L60E with billet internals.

You´re right on that:iagree: , but then you loose the overdrive..........
For me that was no option as I did drive my car a lot on the autobahn.
