Default Should I beef up my suspention???

This weekend I will be adding a supercharger and headers with the x-pipe. Already have Corsa Cat back, cold air intake and Bilstiens Sports.

Should I look into beefing up the suspention at all?? My car is totally stock as far as handling bars go??????

What would you do??

I bought the Z06 for the suspension as much as the engine. I could never have a vette with anything less than the Z06 suspension.

Confused about your question. Are you asking if the suspension will handle the extra power, or are you asking about how to improve your suspension for autocross/road racing?

A bit more info, please.

Have a good one,
Mike

I am sure the car will handle the extra power, but I am of course wanting the best handling when it comes to getting the power to the ground. Tracking straight and cornering are things I would not mind improving if need be.

I do not have the active handling option or done anything with the sway bars. I have not replaced anything for ride control other than the shocks.

Hope that better explains what I am asking. In short would you do anything else to your car if it were yours knowing what have and am doing???

If you happy with the suspension then leave it be, it's still up to your right foot how fast you take a curve.

Get you a set of Z06 sway bars from someone upgrading or from one of the supporting vendors. Do a search on the sways and you will find everyone is glad they upgraded.

Sounds like you're wanting to optimize yours for 1/4 mile runs. If that's the case, then I'd look over in the drag racing forum for suspension mods there.

Of course, if you're wanting to get into twisty competition, then your base car is pretty darn good, but from stock I'd upgrade:

1. Z06 sway bars, front and rear
2. Bilstein sport shocks
3. Z06 springs, again front and rear.

When I was running my Vette on street tires, I had a real problem with the front end pushing. Could be bad technique, but I decided to approach the problem by putting 275s up front to match up with the 275s in the rear. Understeer problem solved!

Hope this helps, and have a good one,
Mike

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm running 275/40/ZR17s up front, which have just about the same diameter as the 245/45/ZR17s I run on the street. Just a wider tire. No problems with AH, and I run my race tires to and from the meet (about 70 miles one way).

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Yes I will admit I am not all that into the SCCA style of racing and am really looking more towards making sure the power gets to the ground and have no problems making it from point a to point b as fast and as straight as I can. Believe it or not but up here in Alaska we have this rather large following of the import variety. While I kick most all of them in the butt on the drag strip there are a couple of guys who are running lots of boost and bottle fed power. They have a hard time beating me but they do...however after next week I do think with the whole LPE set up I am installing they will all be spending fast and furious dollars over the winter and keep up to try...if you know what I mean.

Cant wait till I go to the track for the first time with that little bit of a larger hood on my car and kick some MORE import buttox!

:steering:  :auto: :hurray:

You mean, something like that? :D

Wish I could help out, but I don't know much about drag racing suspension, other than you'll probably need the stickiest tires you can find!

Have fun,
Mike

With more horsepower I would ALWAYS improve the braking. Brembo's or Alcon 4-6 piston front conversion kit atleast. Suspension will be fine. Unless you want to Road Course or Auto-X the car. My .02 cents.
