Default NE1 using LGM headers?

Is anyone using the LGM G2 Full Length Headers? How do you like them? What size are the flanges? Are they 1/4" or 3/8"?

Also, is anyone running test pipes in place of the random tech cats? Did you have these fabricated for you or does LGM sell them or include them w/ the headers?

I have them. 3/8 " flange-very stout! They're a tight fit but required NO modification whatsoever during install. I had them Jet-Hot coated and they look like jewelry. Shame you can barely see them. I'm running cats but LGM sent Pipes with the setup. Best headers available as they have true "merge" collectors. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Me too. I love 'em and they make great power. It's easy to swap out the cats with the off-road pipes if going to the track, although with the cats in they do hang down kinda low.

If you're looking to install them yourself, you're gonna need a lift unless you have the driver's side head removed (it can only fit in from the bottom otherwise).

I installed mine, along with other components, during heads and cam install with the car on jackstands. While finishing up the heads late one nite I dropped a deepwell socket (15mm?). Buddy (Wayne) of mine said something to me as I was pulling the socket, from the rear of the motor, attached to a 3" extension. It pulled off the extension and fell onto the head ..then ting..ta ting...ting ting ting....dead silence. "Did it hit the Floor?". "I'm not sure", "What do you Think?". " I don't know".
We looked for 15 minutes...no socket. I'm under the car searching and Wayne (JLSRU75) said "Do you think it could be in the header?" I had earlier ruled this out while looking downward on the leftside . I didn't think it likely that the socket would make an extreme bank-shot off the left head into the header."Yeah-I guess so". I shake the header and Damn if it isn't in there!!
So we shake...and we shake. No socket. Tried snaking and running tubing through the headers....#3, 5 and 7 were blocked -they are a tight fit!!!! So we had to take the head off to get at the damn socket!!
Moral of the story......Don't take your eye off the ball!!!
After that I ran a strip of 2" masking tape over them.

binksZ06:
Why did you get them jet-hot coated? To reduce engine bay temps?
What about changing oil filter & sparg plugs? No problem getting to them?

So the off-road pipes do come w/ the system as I would use them only @ the track. Daily driven, I'd run them w/ the cats.
How long to do the switch between cats & off-road pipes?

Thanx

Changing the oil filter is no different, the headers don't get in the way at all. The spark plugs are easy to change too, maybe even easier than with the stock manifolds, since there's more space between the primaries.

Switching out the cats doesn't take too long, you just need a deep 11mm socket for the 4 v-clamps, and a 15mm wrench (I think?) to loosen the 2 rear x-pipe clamps (at least in my setup) so you can slide the cats/ORP's in and out. I'd say it takes longer to get the car in the air on ramps/jackstands and crawl underneath to get the job done.

As for clearance, with the ORP's on the lowest part is the bottom of the v-clamps, which might hang approx. 1" to 1 1/2" lower than the frame of the car. With the cats in, the only way I could fit them in is having the "rib" of the cats pointing down, which takes another 1/2" or so. I don't have any scraping problems (my car is at stock height) unless I go over steep inclines with someone else in the car.

C5 YA- JET-HOT for longevity and cooling. Oil filter is not a problem...plugs are easier. Here is the link for JET-HOT http://www.jet-hot.com/ I don't remove my cats.

I have them. Let me tell you...they're great!! Gives a whole new meaning to...you get what you pay for! Huge torque, and great power band! Pricey, but IMO worth it.
Now, just need to get that G5X2 cam of theirs, a TC, Transgo, and new rearend gears...and I'll be all set!!!
