I've got a '99 FRC and have developed a metallic creaking noise in the left rear suspension while going in or out of a driveway or stopping /starting. I can duplicate the noise while lifting the left rear of the vehicle with a jack and it sounds like it's in the control arm, shock, knuckle area. I realize this is vague and tough to diagnose without actually hearing it, but before I start taking things apart looking for this, has anyone had a similar sounding noise and if so, what was the problem?
Thanks
One or two quick creaks for each start / stop cycle. You don't really hear it while driving normally, just during stop / stops or when entering / exiting a driveway at an angle.

I had the one-creak issue on starting from a stop. I had the car on the lift at Andy's (A&A) for an exhaust swap, and he tightened all of the suspension nuts and bolts in the rear. I think one or two of the nuts holding the swaybar to the frame were looser than they should be. Of course, it now has another exhaust on it. In any event, the creaking disappeared completely. So, it was either something loose that was tightened, or something with the exhaust (which I doubt).
Another possible fix for creaking that I read about is to remove that big bolt on the axle and shoot WD-40 into the wheel assembly. Something about splines and rust.
I would try tightening up the suspension connections first.
