Default Stealth cam and pulley install is complete

Just finished it up an hour ago. I was up at 5:00 am working on it....couldn't sleep  The wife is out of town so it worked out great :D

Initial impressions are that it idles very smooth but has a slight bit more rumble to it...which is good!

Anyhow, gonna let it cool off for a while and then take it for a conservative spin around the hood.

Well, this motor has awaken from hibernation :D :D :D :D :D

I'm certainly no expert on cams but this stealth cam from MTI is exactly what Jason said it would be. Almost stock idle and manners but it wakes up big time under WOT. The GHL's are rumbling even better now. :yesnod:

Time to go drive it some more

Congrats on the Stealth Cam! I got the first one about a month ago, and it is the same for me. The car sounds the same through the Ti exhaust as it did stock, the idle is almost identical to stock, but the cam makes great mid to upper range power (2500-6000rpm).

I got mine dynoed after the cam change and install of some stage 1 ls1 heads I had left over from my '99 Trans Am. The results were:

405rwhp/375rwtq

I may do a gear upgrade later this year to bump the low-end, but for now I'm completely happy with this setup. MTI rocks!!! Enjoy the cam!

Hey Pewter,
what are the specs on that cam, if available or appropriate. I checked out MTI's website to learn more but they dont list any "stealth cam".

Congrats!!

Do you have headers? Are you going to dyno soon or get a dyno tune?

My car goes to TSP on monday for a small cam install, but I don't have headers yet so I was folowing your setup.

No, I don't currently have headers. Judging from the sound of my GHL's it may be too loud if I were to get them

The car seems to be running quite well with the stock PCM tune so I will probably forgo the tune until a later date.....IF I add heads/headers etc.

Good luck on your upcoming mods....

Thanks for answering! Are you going to be dynoing soon? I'm getting a before/after dyno with tune and I'll let you know the numbers.

My specs 220/220 580/580 114 XER lobes

Pewter,
so what your saying is, this cam and pulley swap (only) was a noticeable
performance improvement :D
I'm emailing Jason now for pricing.

Yes, my azz-o-meter certainly notices the difference. Of course its hard to say how much HP I actually gained. I do know that its hard to keep traction now :D

Now that some time has passed, can you give us your impressions on the Stealth Cam. Any dyno numbers?

Congrats on the cam!

Have you noticed any charging issues with the ASP pulley? I installed an under-drive pulley on another car (Mustang) and at idle it would drain the battery. It also shortened the life of the battery to about one year.
