Looking to upgrade to some big cubes in the next 6 months. I'm wondering if you guys could give me some insite tnot the following. Should I buy a complete 422-427 from someone or since I have time buy the pieces and put it together myself with some help? I'm thinking maybe build it for a TT set-up. How much should I expect to pay for complete and parts and where? thanks  :blueangel:
Agostino Racing has the best set up I've seen. They use Dart sleeves that Agosino owns the patent on. They can do 427 dry sleeves and everyone else is using wet sleeves.

Ummm, That would be Darton Sleeves :)
Agostino does not own the patent on those sleeves, Darton does. There are many other people using that sleeve. Cartek and Lingenfelter to name a couple. I know there are a few more using that sleeve style. It's a proven design in the import market, seems to being doing well in the LS1's and LS6's.

Actually, you are wrong. The sleeves ARE uses in their blocks were developed by ARE and Darton and are NOT the same ones that any other tuners use, unless they buy their blocks already resleeved from ARE, which I know a few do.
The sleeves ARE uses are dry sleeves and the other Dartons that some tuners are using are wet sleeves. ARE spent the last 3 years perfecting the sleeves in their resleeved LS1 motors and there hasnt been a block/sleeve issue with one of their engines in a long time. Their resleeved block has been tested to near 1000rwhp in their 8.7 second LS1 powered Z28, and to ~900rwhp in their 9.25 second C5 over a year ago.
I know I have put ~20K miles on my resleeved ARE block without a problem and expect to put many more miles on it.
If you are interested in any of ARE's LS1 big cube motor offerings, be sure to drop me an email and I can answer any questions and give pricing.
I would give MTI a call. They build their 7.0 liters in their machine shop on property. One of their engines just won the One Lap of America in the latest issue of Car and Driver.
