GM has put their "cut" in the top, center of the cover. If you are not worried about water ingestion, you can space a series of holes all across the cover. Or, simply cut out most of it! :)
I just took a 1inch holesaw and cut as many holes as I could fit (turned out to be 21 I believe). Worked quiet well, and it was a noticeable SOTP increase! Worth the time.

Did the same, and didn't notice but about 1/3 of what the blackwing gave. It's an okay cheap mod if you don't mind a little water getting on your filter at times.
I also cut holes in mine, but if these can allow water to get on the filter, what about the Blackwing and the others with twin cone filters? These would be fully exposed.
Exactly, it's just water that can drip on where you open the hood (assuming you have the hood seal)...but why not just do it right if you're going to expose things a little.

This and a $5.00 hood seal is the best "practically free" mod you can do. You will notice the difference and it sounds better.
