HELP code scm B2860
thanks wayne, :banghead:
If you have a history DTC B2860 stored in the memory here's the explanation.
The memory seat and telescoping steering column position settings are stored in the LH Seat Control Module (SCM). The SCM measures and stores the steering column position by using a position sensor, which is an internal part of the telescoping actuator. The SCM provides the position sensor with a 5 volt power supply (circuit 2113), and ground (circuit 2152). The SCM monitors the position sensor signal voltage (circuit 2153), which ranges from 0.1-4.78 volts depending on the steering column position. The steering colunm position sensor becomes active only when the SCM detects a steering column in/out switch input.
I think that means, in layman's terms, that the SCM got a voltage it didn't like and sent a code out. I would recommend clearing it and watching to see if it comes back.
But, I don't think the code and the lumbar are related - sorry.
later,
Are these memory seats?
Are there any other DTC codes set?
Is the SCM-L 10 Amp fuse ok? Is the Lumbar 15 Amp fuse ok?
Does the passenger's side lumbar work ok?
The telescoping steering column actuator and the seat adjuster motors are equipped with position sensors. These position sensors are supplied with a COMMON 5 volt reference circuit from the memory seat module. B2860 would be set if this voltage was out of tolerance (less than 0.1 volt or more than 4.78 volts).
thanks wayne,
The lumbar ground is G205, it is part of the instrument panel harness and is located behind the left hand seat, at the antenna module (also location of G301 ground circuit)
I have not had this apart, but the drawing in the service manual looks like the ground connection is a few inches above where the door sill curves upward into the body. This appears to me to be covered by the plastic panel that covers the upper seat belt retractor on my 2003 convertible.
Perhaps there is some corrosion of the electrical connectors to the seat.
