hit some water yesterday and my car flooded out. then went back a couple of hours later and it still wouldn't start, makes a grinding type noise. Any ideas and is this covered under the extended warranty.
If it's water damage, it may be covered by your insurance, not the car warrantee,
Could you perhaps provide some more information? like, do you have an after market intake? How deep was the water? How fast where yoiu going? Did it die immediately of slowly sputter?
If you want help, you got to give some info, we are not mind readers.

STOP trying to start it!!! Get it towed somewhere and pull ALL of your spark plugs. Then crank it over until all of the water comes out. Hopefully you will be okay but if you contiune to try to start it and it does have water in the cylinders, you will most probably throw a rod through block... Not a pretty picture!!
i do have ram air or should i say i did have ram air. it is currently at the dealer with stock air filter on it. i am not sure what good it will do considering when i pulled off the ram air it was like niagra falls and when i opened the throttle body it was even worse. the water was only about 3-4inches deep but i think i might have caught a wake. it died pretty fast after the wave.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. :( :( Makes me glad I didn't go with the Ram Air b/c I was afraid that would happen being that it's my daily driver and I hit plenty of puddles recently that were deeper than 3-4 in. Hope everything works out for you. :seeya
Sorry for your bad luck. Your strory and stories like it is why I decided against ram air and went with a Donaldson Blackwing. Hope it all works
out for you.
Bill :) :)
What was the purpose of putting on the stock air filter before leaving the car at the dealer once you saw the water inside?
Because if the insurance company, whether it be car insurance or extended warranty, sees any way to deny liability they will. And the customer gets to foot the bill. It's a good idea for anyone reading this to do the same, if you question it, so will they if the adjuster is any good.

My opinion is, covering up the actual set up, then trying to get the insurance or extended warranty to pay off is dishonest. Anybody that installs a bottom breather, made that decision and should accept the increased risk. The insurance company was probably not informed of the change and increased risk so they could increase rates. Sometimes it just comes down to you have to pay if you want to play.
I couldn't agree more to what you said but I have also seen the other side.
I have a 99 w/28k burning oil to the tune of 2 quarts per 1000 miles. Extended warranty wont cover the repair because they say rings and pistons are wearable items and not covered.
