"Because this head is planed, the intake manifold pilot bosses must be chamfered." ....
The head is no longer as thick as it was (planed), the holes from the intake manifold no longer line up with the head, thus necessitating modification of the intake manifold.
ok, thanks...so what exactly would these modifications entail...and is it something I could do myself???
Whoever did the work on the heads would be your best source of information. The more material removed from the head, the more modification to the intake. The head builder may have suggestions for other gaskets or sealants. Why not have the head manufacturer make the necessary modifications?
good point...the only reason I ask is because a buddy of mine purchased a GM Hot Cam, and LS6 intake off ebay, and a set of the CNC LS6 heads from Pace Performance...installed the stuff himself, and is very pleased with the performance, and spent under 2 thousand for everything. When I looked at the heads on Pace's sight, it had something about the pilot bosses being chamfered
