Default how to clear codes?

my car has a few codes but they all have the "H" after them. i was told this means history. Can i clear these codes in any way. And if you have a certain amount of codes, will the service vehicle soon come on? and finally, what does the "C" after the codes mean? Thanks a bunch!

The C after the code means it's current. The H means it's history.

Since you know how to get into the diagnostics, when it comes up on "auto" scrolling mode, just hit any button other than "E/M", this will put you into the manual scrolling mode. Scroll through the various modules by using the options or trip button. It will tell you if any codes are present in that module. If there are, press the gages button to scroll through the individual code(s). When you bring up a code, to clear it, hold the reset button for a second or so, the code will clear. Continue scrolling through the codes and modules until you've reset them all. Once the codes have been reset, it should extinguish any warning lights on the dash (Check engine, trac control, abs, etc).
