Default Launching at the track?

Today, I was having a conversation with a buddy of mine and I am hopeful one of the experienced track guys from the forum can help out?

1. Is it better to do a burnout in second gear, instead of first?
2. If I will get slight spin when starting in second, should I consider launching in second, instead of first a the track?

It seems to me that starting in first would yield quicker acceleration; however, if I can spin them in second. . .doesn't that mean that I should be able to start in second at full throttle (on a prepped track, I should just hook)?

A4 I do my burnout it 3 so it goes 1 to 2 during burn out.

M6, some guys do a 2nd gear start for the burnout most do 1st to 2nd.

At the line only 1st. I don't konw anyone that starts in 2nd

I had a Supercharged Grand Prix GTP with around 300 horsepower at the front wheels. I know all about loss of traction

1st gear is all about throttle control in cars that spin alot, I can guarantee you your times would bite if you tried launching in second. Im still working on launch technique in the Z06, launch to high it spins, too low it bogs, however it hooks fairly easily stock
