Automatic mods explanation
Changing the torque converter : I understand that this voids the warranty and involves a "change of the fluid coupling", but what does this mean ? Just changing the transmission oil to a different grade ?
Ordering a higher ratio gear on the differential : 2.73 to 3.15 ? I'm assuming I can do this when I place the order for my C5, and it will not void the warranty. Is this a popular choice ? What are the drawbacks ?
What do people mean by changing the "stall" speed ? Relates to the transmission I suppose.
What does "powerload the A4" mean ?
What is a transgo kit ?
I look forward to your explanations. Thanks in advance.

Going to a numerically higher rear 2.73 to 3.15 will give your car greater acceleration. You can order a 3.15 rear as an option on a new C5 so this would not void your warranty. The down side is your miles per gallon will decrease slightly.
A Trans Go Shift Kit will firm up your shift points (your tranny will shift harder with a shift kit).
I am not sure what you mean when you say Powerload the A4.

The info in the FAQ section helped.
I'm actually waiting for the C6, but I'm now almost sure of getting the automatic (5+ speed should be nice). I will probably go for the higher ratio at the differential as a first step. I don't mind loosing a few mpg. So that was good advice.
After driving manuals for all my life, I find it frustrating to find the best downshift gear when going from "I'm-just-cruising-in-a-high-gear" to "I-need-max-acceleration" to block/pass another car. If I was at a race track I could plan on being in the best gear all the time, but in daily traffic my driving mode can change instantly. So an automatic will probably work best for that.
