A loose sounding noise coming from the right front, so i pull the tire and check the mounting points they are tight,
but i find a large washer and yellow grommet type bushing under the dust cover.
They are loose and i was able to slide them up and down the shaft  Does anyone know if they are supposed to be connected and maybe broke off? cause every time i go over a defect or small bump in the road i hear the metal washer moving around on the chrome shaft, very annoying :mad Thanks Rob.
The washer and bushings just slide over the top of the shock, they are not supposed to be connected in any way. You may want to make sure they are on the shock in the correct order; the instructions that come with the Bilsteins show the proper placement.
A loose sound like you are describing could be from loose sway bar end links. When mine were loose after installing it made a rattling/clunking noise, sounded like the whole front end was going to fall apart. You may want to try a re-torque on them.
Jeff Jeff, I will pull the tire and check those end links, but i swear its coming from that large 'washer' cause i moved it around a bit with my hand and the noise was similar to when i was driving, I'll post back after i check it. And i guess there on in the correct order, i didnt install the shocks a shop did and i have had them on for almost 2 years now and never a noise.
Vette4, what you think the purpose is, like a bump stop? Im not going to take them off though.

That´s right.
I called Bilstein before I mounted the shocks. They told me, that the rubber must fit strong to the shaft and maybe the rubber bore was a bit too wide. He sent me two more rubber set´s, but I mounted the shocks and have no problem up to now.
I would not take off the big washer. He holds/stops the rubber when wheel is going up very high.
The sound you hear may come from the loose washer due to the fact that the rubber has moved downwards.
Frederick found the exact same thing I did. The tightness of the bumper on the shaft is supposed to keep the washer up (according ot Bilstein). Without the washer when you bottom the suspension you will split the bumper then go metal to metal.
Also check to make sure the top two rubber bushings on the upper mount are compressed even with the wheel off the ground. They will make noise otherwise.
i had the same noise, for some reason i think the travel on the bilsteins is too short for thr C5, after lowering the car the noise has gone and the handling is superlative!
