Default Someone Hit me! Rear bumper Help!

Was at a Village Inn eating last night while a drunk in an F150 decided to roll into the rear of my ultra clean 98 C5 with only 30K miles :(

The left rear corner was pushed in a good deal, almost 3 inches, but no other damage. The guy that did it, got out of his truck, and laid across the street before anyone saw him in the truck. He said he didn't do it, yet its his truck stuck in my car which he couldn't/would not explain. Then the police didn’t want to do a report as they are not required to do so when in a parking lot and not a public street! The policy only have him public intoxication instead of DWI so I guess he was smart enough to figure that one out. I convinced them to make a report anyhow

Back to the main topic, the strange part is, each hour that passed, the dent started to come out more and more, becoming less visible over time! It’s got to the point that you almost can't even tell other thin 3 small scrapes from a big dent that was more then noticeable hours before!!

If needed, can the plastic be slightly reshaped to smooth it out? Only need to even out the side a little now and take care of the scrapes. Anyone know?

I just got my '99 coupe out of the shop for a hit and run to my left rear also.
The rear clip is polyurethene, and the quarter panels are plastic. My rear clip actually popped back out,and just needed to be re-painted. The damaged quarter was replaced. Go to a reputable body shop, and have them look at your rear clip. Good luck with yur Vette.

When I added a US rear to my Euro car, the used rear facia I bought had two dents in size of a hand left and right below the lights, right in the big area. The paintshop said that they would support this area when the part is in the oven....and it came out perfect and stayed for a year now.
As written above, go to a good paintshop.
Hope this helps

Had a wavy dent in the top side of my RR bumper cover from a back in hit. About the size of a football. Body Shop used a heat gun to shape the dent out and refinished the damaged area because the paint was cracked. Did a good job and one cannot tell now it was ever hit. 2000 C5 Yellow Coupe.
