Quick questions on disconnecting battery/computer reset
Greetings.
Got the Z06 airlid and K&N today. I would guess the best results would come by resetting the engine computer to learn immediately about the new intake rather than wait for it to learn itself into it.
Quick questions -
1) Is pulling the ground from the battery the preferred way to accomplish this?

1. Turn key on but don't start car.
2. Pull PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Turn ignition off.
5. Replace fuses.
It will take the car a while to relearn the fuel and timing curves so don't worry about a temporary performance loss.

I disconnected my battery for about 5 min. when I switched to the Redtop. The only thing I had to reset was my clock. Everything else worked fine and retained memory. :seeya

Is that the "preferred" method to reset the computer? I was wary of just disconnecting the battery - why wouldn't the computer have more volatile memory than my digital camera does? Or TV remote control?

If the only reason you want to reset the system is to do an idle re-learn because of the K&N swapout , a reset is not necessary, just drive it.
The PCM constantly monitors mixture and updates relative to temp, pressue, fuel quality etc.
Unless you have driveability issues after the swap, just drive it. After a day or so it recalculates mixture trim automatically.
