I have them on my car, they stop very good and they don't dust nearly as much as OEM pads.

Very easy on the rotors, and no dust. I got mine from GMPartsdirect and saved and 50%.

I am using them in my Hardtop for a few months now. I think it's way better than stock and has less brake dust so it's easier to keep your chromies cleaner. I do not drag or track (yet) so I dont know how it rates in racing conditions and how it is with rotors (I have the stock rotors BTW).

Ceramic-based pads are easy on the rotors. I never had rotors warp or get eaten up by this type of brakepads. The semi-metallic carbon fiber pads are the worst.

If you aree going to a roadcourse be very easy on them as they are not a very high temperature pad.

Sure.. anything that doesn't depend on a lot of strong repetive braking should be fine.

I use Raybestos Ceramics (QStop) for daily driving on the street because of the low dusting. They work very well when cool, even better than stock. However they will fade badly when heated up. All it takes is 2-3 hard stops from 60 MPH with no cool down in between and they will hardly slow the car. It then takes about 30 seconds for them to recover.

I change to Hawk Performance Plus pads for the track and canyons. These pads clamp like a vise, stop after stop, but they are noisy, extremely dusty, and eat the rotors for lunch.

If you never put a severe load on your brakes the ceramics will be fine. If you do, you will either need to change your pads whenever you are planning the severe use, or stick with the stock OEM pads. The stock pads are the best compromise between dust, noise and performance.

Bottom line:
There is no brake pad that can do it all; low dust, low noise, low rotor wear, and high friction at high temperatures. The ceramics are quiet, almost dust free, and great for normal street driving and cruising, but for any serious canyon driving or track use they are no good.

You might want to try the EBC Greens or Red for higher temperatures. After losing a set of rotors to the Hawks I switched and found them to be a much better deal all they way around.

:iagree:

but like others said, they are not racing pads. I only put them on the front where I was having terrible dusting problems with the stock pads.

Had them for 3 years on my Y2K Coupe. Only complaint is more dust than I
wanted, but, much less than factory pads.

I have them in the fronts and the back. THe back are perfect but when the fronts heat up they squeak (but not to loud)but that is better than washing your rims every 20 miles :yesnod:

Did you get Raybestos or tock GM pads from GMPartsdirect?
I search their site and look like they only carry stock GM pads.

The automotive manufactures have been making some new vehicles with ceramic pads for a few years now. Some aftermarket manufactures have opted to make ceramic pads for many vehicles that they were NOT O.E. on.

There are also some big name aftermarket manufactures that ONLY make ceramics for the O.E. applications that came with them from the factory.

Question, why are some only making ceramics for O.E. and why did GM opt NOT to put them on our car. Our system may have been designed for semi-metalic pads.

I would ask why is Raybestos and not Wagner brakes, Akebono (spelled wrong) Bendix ext only making them for O.E applications. Stick with semi-metalic pads.

Bill

you'll love the ceramics.

I've seen pics of the GM Ceramic and Raybestos Ceramic pads side-by-side. They look identical. Even the plastic bag containing the accesories is the same (with the exact same part number).

Maybe Raybestos makes them for GM ???????

:iagree:

All rotors need to cool quickly to prevent warping. If you race or use a lot of braking, keep your car moving so the rotors can cool and you will keep your rotors rotating happily ever-after!
