for a car with 500 hp or less. My stock clutch is still good with almost 70k, but I have to believe it will not last too much longer. I will eventually do a head and cam or supercharger but don't see my car exceeding 500 rwhp. What clutch is best? I have looked at McCloud, Cartech, Spec and Z06 clutches. Any recommendation?
Try the search function ;) This issue has been beaten to death in the past so you should be able to find something.

Mcleod

Cartek

Spec III

LG motorsports G2 clutch

Quarter Master 8.5" (I have not seen any real life test of this clutch

I did do the search and many of the threads were more specific than what is a good clutch and all the threads were archived so were a little long in the tooth. I know of people who are running stock clutches with 450 rwhp, but I want to upgrade without spending $1,000 on a clutch. I have heard some bad things about Cartech with higher hp setups and have seen a SPEC clutch completely fail after about a month. Are Cartech clutches good? Was the SPEC problem a fluke? Will the Z06 clutch handle 500 rwhp? I have heard yes and no but not from people with that set up.
it's really going to depend on what the intent of the car is. Just a weekend cruiser and a few rolling, WOT blasts? I think the Z06 clutch would be adequate.
Are you more interested in drag racing and high rpm launches?? If so, then the Z06 clutch will not be adequate. I bumped my power level from about 365rwhp to 410rwhp and it lasted one trip to the drags (5800 rpm launches).
I opted for a dual disk mcleod and I'm very happy with it. It engages somewhat higher than stock, but it never sticks to the floor and the car gets every ounce of power to the ground. But you won't get that one for $1K, more like $2K installed.
