I decided to take the car out for a little cruise and I got no more than a mile down the road and the check engine light comes on. I get a reduced engine power messege and a service traction system and service active handling. I had to drive home with the hazards on, the car would only go about 20 mph max. I pulled the codes and this is what I got:
P1120
P1220
P1515
P1516
P1518
C1278
I know these codes have do with the throttle position sensor and TAC Module. Does the sensor/module just need to be replaced? I don't want to have to take the car to the dealer around here with a supercharger on it.
Did you guys tune your car yourself or have it tuned by a pro? Did you use LS1edit after the install of your SCer or just the programming that came with the kit?
You may want to post this in the forced induction section. If your a do it yourselfer those guys know there stuff. Personaly from keeping in close touch with my tuner and having a few small problems just as yourselves I know fine tuning is very important. The first time I took my car out I got the reduced power error. It came down to tuning the tables so the MAF knew how much air to expect at a given throttle position (mind you I didnt do this myself so if my terminology sounds a bit off its because I am no pro).
BTW if you go into reduced power mode again just shut down in a safe place and cycle the ignition 3-4 times you should be able to get home without being in that mode if its just a tuning issue. Just dont romp on it.
I don't have any tuning done on mine. I did find that there was a problem with some of the programming code and that getting it upgraded at GM would help...Is there any truth to this?
I have contacted LPE they told me to resoder the throttle position sensor wires where they extended the wiring harness. I did that, and it still does the same thing. I'm taking it into the dealer, I don't really care if they void my warranty or not. I just want it fixed!
Taking it to a Chevy Dealer is probably going to be a waste of time since most all Dealerships only deal and have info on STOCK engines. Chevy service manuals don't take mods into account.
I'm pretty sure now that it is a faulty tps sensor or the Throttle Acuator Control Module. Both of these are stock parts that came on the car and have not been modified at all, so following the prcedure in the service manuals at the dealer should resolve the problem I hope. I really don't know anyone around town that knows anything about corvettes besides this dealer.
I have had the supercharger package on the car for more than a year now. I would think that if LPE tuned it incorrectly I would have had problems right from the start.
Dealer called today, the Throttle Body was defective they told me I can pick the car up tomorrow! All is good and they said nothing at all about the supercharger.
