Default P0461 Fuel Level Sensor 1 Circuit Performance

Hello,

I have been having the usual gas gauge problem :mad , but this code has me perplexed.

About a month ago the gauge quit one day, I cleared the codes and it was fine. A few days ago it happened again and I cleared the codes and it was fine until this morning. I clear the codes and the gauge reads correctly until I start the motor, at which time the gauge stops working and resets the code. Seems to me this is not a problem with the sending unit, but the connection somewhere. Anyone have any ideas about anything I can do to keep from having to make a dealer trip over this?? (other than stopping at the gas station every morning to top off :lolg: )

Thanks,

Mick

This is why the General gave you 2 trip odometers. One to keep track of when you need gas ( about every 235 miles works for me ) and the other is to keep track of how many miles it takes to burn up a quart of oil ( about every 2500 for me )

I just can't understand why these procedures were not printed in the owners manual.
