Fellows, I just came from the dealership from getting a 3000 stall converter installed.A little looser than I would want But I think I can get use to it.My problem is after driving 1 one day after install is backing up(very slow) and
going forward(very slow I'm hearing a clunking/grinding noise from the rear of the car.Obviously it was'nt there before and otherwise the converter works find.Is there something the dealer missed in tighten or filling that can cause this????Car is a c5,98,auto,2.73. Any info on this I would greatly appreciate!!Car is going back to dealer but I'm hoping you guys can give me some insight on this. thanks   :cuss
Thats definately not normal. I had a Yank 3000 installed, it is very "streetable" and I have never heard any noise as you described. You are right, have the dealer/installer check it out....
Some of your symptoms are normal while one is not.
I replaced my 2.73's with 3.42's and a SY3500, plus added
a TransGo shift kit. The slow starts while going slow in 1st
and in reverse is somewhat standard on a tc. The grinding
noise however is not normal no matter what.
Getting your PCM re-tuned for the tc could help the looseness.
I was forced to do this because of the gear change. The shift
kit definitely eliminates this problem, but some tc/tranny people
recommend against them.
I'm from Virginia Beach btw, I'm curious as to what 'dealer' did
the work. You can IM me if want. (Bought mine from RK in 97)
