Ran my car in a charity cruise in(show) and drag racing event. It's the first time this cars been on the track.
Beat a Z06 pretty bad. Left him at the line and kept pulling.
Got my butt kicked by a Buick Grand National. Bad. He ran a 7.32
I ran a 7.99 @ 93 mph. The BFG's don't give me any kind of launch and on one run the rear started going sideways on the 1-2 shift. Might need tires. :steering:
Joe those are great times.
I will be getting a stock engine run the end of July
Also the forum guys will be running the 25th of sept at Milan
Feel like a road trip to cool Mich in Sept ?
when i multiply your 1/8th time of 7.99 by the 1/4 mile conversion factor (1.53 to 1.55) the estimated 1/4 mile et is around 12.3...is that about what your 1/4 times are???...your mph suggest you have some better times available (traction?)...my Z went from 8.0 in the 1/8th to 7.6/7.7 from only changing tires (stock tires to drag radials).
your mph suggest you have some better times available
Joe, I forgot to comment on this as well....93mph trap suggests a very fast car. Much better ET than 8 seconds in a 660 race. When i was running mid 90's trap in the 660, i was doing low/mid 11's in a full 1320 track. Hook up and you'll be needing a roll cage....
I just ran my car at the local 1/8 mile track on Friday and had a best run of 7.58 @ 99.35 mph and this was with a passenger in the car. I had to have someone activate my nitrous due to poor switch placement. My best run off the bottle was 7.93 @ around 92mph I beleive. I'm still having traction problems and I'm working on my RT ( TERRIBLE ) and launch technique. Bob
Our stock 98 coupe w/only TPIS, SLP loudmouths, Yank 3000, and 3.42 rear plus J Formato tuning just went 7.92 in the 1/8th with 90 degree weather & my fat butt in it! Give me a cold fall day & the kid in it an it should run much quicker.
Thanks for the kind words and information. I also felt that 93 meant better ET's available. The event was run by the track with no profit for them, so no time slips or 60' numbers.
Wonder if a line lock to heat up the BFG's would help?
My best run was with the TC on in 1st gear.
LBB99, Holy crap thats a good ET, I'm new to all this can you explain how this works. It seems that you kicked my butt on the ET but I have a higher trap speed, what does that tell me? Any advice would be appreciated. Bob
I just ran an 8.72 @ 84MPG in a bone stock 2002 C5 Automatic 2.05 60' time stock radial tires.
It was at night about 9pm at 85 degrees and 80% humidity. I always take temp and humidity readings
on my runs ... get the data from the National Weather Service. It was very hazy and
muggy. Is this about right...seems awful lot lower than you other guys.
I ran 4 weeks ago in 90 degree heat. I have BFG DR's too and got a 1.73 60' and this was my 1st time to go to the track with them and i don't go to the track too often.
I ran a 7.90 at 87 MPH. This was before I added a ported throttle body, got my car tunued correctly with LS1 Edit (Wasn't shifting at the right points yet), and before the addition of my OFF Road X-Pipe. The hot weather will kill your times, in cooler weather you'll do way better.
What were your 60's??????
If they were high and you ran a 7.99 then you know you can run much lower ET if you just get traction. You have to do a burnout with the BFG's or they will spin at the track.
