Default Exhaust Compatibility Question

Currently I only have the Borla Stinger (quad) system. I would like to add headers and an X-pipe to let the Vette breath even better. My question is concerning compatibility problems. What X-pipe and Header brands will bolt up to the factory Cats and to the Borla Stingers.

Any help is appreciated.

There are exceptions (like if you had the Borla XR-1 system), but for the most part, everything out there is compatible.

For long tube headers, you have many choices. Some are complete systems, which not only include the headers, but also come with new cats and/or off-road pipes, and an X-pipe. It's basically complete from the heads to the rear flanges, where your Stingers will bolt up to. FLP, LGM, Grizzly are such systems. The big benefit to these is it's 100% bolt on, your stock midsection H pipe and cats (1pc) remain uncut and intact. You just drop your stock stuff out, and install all the new stuff. These are about the only headers that won't work with your stock cats...which is why they come with their own.

For JUST headers, Stainlessworks, TPIS, TTS, SLP to name a few...will involve cutting your stock pipes just in front of the cats for the headers to connect to. They are made to connect to your stock cats. If you go this route, you may also want the individual X-pipe, which again, all of them (Magnaflow, Bassani, Corsa are the most popular) will be compatible with your stingers, the rear flanges will be in the same place...but will require more cutting into your stock H-pipe (behind the cats) to install. If you know you're doing both, and doing it all at once, a complete system really is the way to go. Otherwise, you just do a lot of cutting and fitting and maybe welding just to keep the stock cats in place.

Research all the brands, and figure what your budget is. The complete systems are much higher priced, but when you consider what they all include, and the saved labor, IMO the final cost ends up being not too out-of line.
