Default Zip tie mod details please! :)

I'm going to be getting my lt headers+full exhaust soon and want to have the car inhale a little better with the increased exhaling ability. I don't want to spend money on a temporary intake mod when I plan on doing big buildups in the future with a C5R block and blower/turbo or something that would replace the intake anyways. Does anyone have any pictures of the zip tie mod? She's begging to breathe :yesnod:

Don't have pics, but it is pretty simple. Take off the stock lid, set aside, then zip tie the filter in place with no lid.

Ok.. so take off the thing that says "pull to service filter" or whatever and then zip tie the 2 clamp things a little tighter from the bottom?

There are plenty of posts about this, just do a search. One thing to make sure you do, get some weatherstripping or a hood seal for the front of the hood, or the first time it rains you'll run the risk of hydrolocking your motor. With the hood seal, I've had no problems and mine is a daily driver, plus I've checked it after washing the car, and that area is bone dry.

Just bought K & N and left the box open. I notice a good throttle response increase.

Do the zip tie's have to be long enough to wrap around the whole box or do they go on differently?

Thanks :steering:

The zip ties should go all the way around. Don't worry about zip tie length - you can chain them together to get the length you need. I believe you will still need to put the air filter frame on top of the filter before tying it down - the frame is what assures you have an air tight seal all the way around the filter - otherwise, the filter would only be held tight directly below the zip ties and a gap could form.
