Default Brake Pad advice

I just purchased a new set of four Power Slot rotors.
This car is my daily driver and I don't race it.
I have read many of the posts about pads but I still don't know what will work best with these rotors.
I don't think I need anything exotic and I don't want to eat up my rotors.
Any advice would be appreciated.

There are as many opinions as pads out there.

Take a look at http://www.tirerack.com and look through the choices.
I'm not a real big fan of Hawk pads as they seem to dislike rotors!

Hawk HPS (not HP Plus). I use them on both my C5 and C4, and they
are MUCH better than stock on stopping power, very little dust, very
low rotor wear. ZIP has excellent prices - see their forum listing.

After a lot of research (on several occasions) I always end up coming back to the stock pads. The best balance for street use. There are some that don't dust but stop poorly, stop great but dust tons, and stop and don't dust but make a lot of noise. If you don't want to compromise somewhere, go stock. :smash:

I just put on those same rotors and then had to decide what pads to put on. I had 2 new sets on hand. The Hawk street pads and a new set of stock pads. I tried the Hawk pads first but developed a clunking sound that would not go away. I switched to the stock pads and the clunking sound went away. Not sure why this was the case.

A little bit of a warning here. Do not push these pads hard. They will not stand up to hard frequent braking.

I read that the ceramic pads can accumulate a deposit between the rotor and pad causing a vibration.

Have been running Raybestos Q Ceramic/Metallic for nearly 3 years with no problems or vibration. Less dust than factory but all pads dust some.

I have the same rotors. I used Performance Friction Z rated pads, SS lines and Motuls. Works great, no fade and great pedal pressure.

Z06plasticfantastic:

Are these pads ceramic, composite or metallic?

Its a Carbon Metallic Pad great for aggresive street high perfomance applications and short track events. Its supposingly one of the better "race technology" pad compounds. Works great, readily available and priced right.
