I recently purchased a set of Z06 take off rims. What would happen if I installed them with out the sensors, would I get an annoying error message in the DIC? Or would I just not be able to pull up the pressures when I try? OR worse yet get the annoying check engine light?
You will get a "svc tire mon sys" error on the DIC everytime you start the car. You can just reset it and go..not a terribly big deal, but an annoyance nonetheless.
A dealer Or someone with a Tech2 programmer) can program out the TPS system on a 2001 or newer C5's, but not on the earlier models.
I just put on a different set of wheels with different sensors. Since the car cannot locate the sensors I do get an intermittent message......"Service tire pressure monitoring system" or something like that.
They will take stock sensors. I'm in the process of finding the part# for the sensors and nuts and putting on my newly customized Z06 wheels. The sensory technology is just too useful, imho, to forego.
Hi all,
I would like to change out one of my TPS's since it is dead now. Is this hard to do or technical? Can I take it to Firestone(I had Firehawks put on) and have them dismount the tire for me to switch out TPS? Thanks for any help.
