:banghead: Installed an Alpine XM rf modulator last night. I could not find a 12 volt delayed accessory power line in or around the console. Running out of time (2 kids + wife), I used a switched 12 volt connection that went ot the (auto) a/c panel. The a/c was off at the time. Buttoned everything back up, backed out of the garage this a.m. with the XM on. When I turned on the a/c, the XM went off?? Turn the a/c off, and you can turn XM back on. I know engineers sit around and think of stuff like this to do to us. Anyway, I would really like a delayed accessory source so the radio and XM stay on until a door is opened (like I did in my wife's car). Any suggestions? I hunted around in the fuse box briefly and without success, but that is tricky with all the doors closed.
You might want to ask this over in the Audio/Electronics forum...
However, the RAP (Retained Accessory Power) on the C5 is not contained on any one line. It's actually a command that is sent along the data bus and is interpreted by the window motors & the radio. I believe that Top Down Tech is working on a gizmo that will snoop on that bus and provide a RAP powered lead.
In order to get a ignition lead, you'll pretty much have to run a wire from the fuse box in the passenger's floorboard... I will need to look into which lead you'll want to splice into.
That is true, it is a computer command that is interpreted INSIDE the RAP device. I went inside my radio and grabbed some power for my cell phone CCM Navigator.. also went into the audio lines so I get the phone through the speakers.
