I'm going to install the Thunder Racing TR224 cam on stock heads with the below monds but I don't have LS1 Edit yet. Can this be done without having to tuning the car? I do have a MAFT. Will the car still be driveable with stock programming?
I don't want to get LS1 Edit untill my ported heads are ready. I just couldn't stand having the cam sit in my room and not putting it to use :reddevil
You would benefit from LS1 edit and dyno tunning. However, as already mentioned, several people (mainly F-body crowd) have been drilling a small hole in the throttle body and seem to be running fine.
I just finished installing a TR 227/224 114 in my Vette last week. No tuning yet, but the car does run and idle alright. The only time it wants to die is at low RPM, low throttle conditions (creeping into the driveway/garage). No drilling here. Let the computer learn for about 100 miles and you'll be fine.
My car (read mods below) needed LS1 edit after DIY install (dot to dot). Idle had to be raised and A/F ratio adjusted to maximize HP. Oil pump is generally R&R as PM due to cost / time to get at it.
I have the 114 lsa. I will get ls1 edit eventually. I just want to install the cam first since my heads aren't ready yet. I'm just replacing the oil pump to be safe.
