HELP Battery drain!
My GM mechanic just took a bunch on my money and could not find out why my new battery is quickly drained. He said he followed the GM procedure to no avail. Says he need to remove the interfender and check out the main computer one circuit at a time.
Any advice?

Ask him to check the harnesses under the Battery tray for acid leaking from the battery. At first you do not see the acid leak and it can get onto the PCM and the harnesses under the battery tray. It can also start to cause many other problems from battery draning to other major problem including HVAC, and harnesses being destroyed from the battery leaking. After checking for a leaking battery, see if you can track down electical equipment that is on. My '99 had the power seat switch give out and stick in the on position, which quickly drained my battery. I was able to track it down because it made a little noise running all the time. I was able to show the dealer the problem (of course they had to "confirm" it before fixing it).
Good luck, tracking down electrical stuff is a bugger. But if you can find it before going to the dealer, it can save you a lot of money.
