C-5 TECH ? rear axle leak
I did a search on left rear diff. leak & saw you mentioned its not necessary to remove the transverse spring. My question is it necessary to separate outer tie rod from the knuckle & separate lower ball joint from the suspension knuckle. In other words if you pull the axle at the wheel hub is there enough room to slip the side cover off.

I disconnect the outer tie rod end and upper ball joint to swing the hub out of the way.Then pop the axle out of the diff cover :yesnod:

So I assume by doing it that way it is not necessary to remove the spring since you are keeping the load on the lower control arm? I looked at doing it that way but the Manual says to remove the spring. It would be a lot easier to do it your way. I will do mine next weekend and will post pictures as I go for all you that wish to do this also.
