Ir's Summer and my coupe spends the better part of each week in the Garage.Tonight it was 95 degrees at 8:30 ...will storing the 01 coupe in this heat have a short or long term effect on the motor or electronics, etc???TIA,any suggestions to caution about? :chevy :reddevil
My garage gets warmer than that; over a 100 frequently since my garage does not have any roof vents to exhaust the heat. So far, 2-yrs with my '01 not heat related problems...yet!
I park my car out in the sun all the time, just like loads of other corvette owners all over the country. Inside a parked corvette, in direct sunlight, its gets up to nearly 140 degrees. The electronics under the dash will get up to about 125-130 after a few hours of the car being in direct sun on a hot day (90+ degrees).
So, A corvette in your garage will be just fine. :yesnod:
Yeah! a glass of wine ,in the corvette in the Napa Valley sounds fine!!not driving of course!versus a bud tall neck cruisin down the beach, not driving of course! with high humidity!! glad the vette is made of plastic(smg)!!!

Funny you should bring this topic up. After building my new home 3 years ago, I finally had enough of working in my garage in misery. I just purchased and installed a Fujitsu 2 ton ductless A/C and it works great!! It has a remote control and you set the temp you want and that's it!! Here is a picture of it mounted on the wall. I still have to paint the chase for it but hey, at least its up and working!!
My garage is a 3 car and is aprox 750 sq ft and it cools off in just about 15 minutes!! The unit basically hangs on the wall aprox 2' below the ceiling and the condensing unit is mounted on a pad just outside. This is by far one of the best "mods" I have done!!!

damn I'm gonna have to invest in a AC unit like that, my garage gets pretty damn hot to work in during the summer.
Yup!! Down here in South Florida, it is pretty hot practically year-round so this baby will see some action!! I can't tell you how much better it is now.. Whenever I want to go in the garage, it is never above 82 degrees and I just grab the remote and lower it into the mid 70's when working in there. It cools down in less than 15 minutes to whatever desired temp you set and is so quiet, you hardly even notice it.
Some of you have e-mailed me about this. The unit you see in the picture above does NOT go through the wall, it simply hangs on the wall. This is the air handler. It is connected to an outside condensor which houses the compressor. It is basically a central A/C system but without all the hassles of running ducting. PERFECT for this application as it is simple to hookup and use.

oh, so that metal shaft goes out of the bottom goes around to the outside?
The metal piece that you see in the image is just a cover. In the A/C trade, they call it a "chase". It simply hides the control wires and the high and low pressure copper lines. Those lines go from the unit hanging on the wall outside to the condensing unit. I plan to paint the chase the same color as the wall so that it won't stick out so much...

Can you tell us more about the p/n, cost etc. of this system? Maybe a website where we can look more into it?
It is a great deal. Sayno makes a similar unit. I have run the Sayno units in the Pershan Gulf on High Speed Catermarans for 4 years and these units are bulletproof (no pun intended) :lolg: :lolg: :flag

I guess it better be bullet proof in the Persian gulf!!
I have heard great things about these units though. I don't think that they are very popular in the states but they are in Japan and in most of Europe.
I will get the exact P/N's off the units when I go home tonight and post them..

Okay guys.. I just got home and looked up the information on the garage AC uit.
The unit I purchased was the Fujitsu ASU24C1 which is the indoor hang on the wall piece and the other P/N is AOU24C1 which is the outdoor condensing unit. These 2 pieces come together when you purchase it. The specs are 24000 BTU (2 Ton) Cooling only. FYI, I probably could have gotten away with the 18,000 BTU model but the price difference was only 100 dollars or so. Also, mine is a cooling unit only without any heat. They make the same unit with a heat strip for a few bucks more. The efficiency is aprox 11 SEER which is not too bad.
I purchased the unit from a guy named Eric from wholesaleac.com. I paid 1350.00 for both pieces including shipping which was a great deal. Around here, everyone wanted 2k or more PLUS installation.
