I need some serious help. I've decided to install the Hypertech Power Programer III in my 2002 A4 C5 w/ 2.73 gears. I also plan on installing the Hypertech 160 degree thermo. What changes do I make to the engine rev limiter? How much of an increase is safe? I also need help regarding the transmission shift point & rpm. I can adjust the 1-2 shift, the 2-3 shift, and the 3-4 shift. How much adjustment should I make for each shift point? I do not race my car on the street or strip. Just what to optimize what I have. I am not very mechanical and, consequently, I'm relying on the experts to help me out. Thank you in advance for your help. Save the wave.
you can increase rev limit to 6400 with no problems.
shift points are your preferece, BTW this adjustment is for WOT shifts(drag racing) Do a search for shifts... try 1-2 +4 mph, 2-3 +4, 3-4 +4, I think each mph is 200 rpm.... set shift firmness to 75 or 100%
I had my rev limiter upto 6500 no probs, this way I wasn't risking bouncing off of it when shifting. As stated my 1-2 shift I think I got best results from upping it 3 MPH. the 2-3 Shift I upped 5 I think, I wanted to get them shiffting at 6k or slightly above. shift firmness is only for your feel, sometimes I liked it, others I didn't. problem is it is always there even at slow speeds. :seeya :chevy
