I'm thinking about switching the 3:15's for some 3:42's on my 98. A lot of people have suggested the LS1 edit to reprogram for the change. I honestly know nothing about the LS1 edit. I have heard good and bad things about the TTS Power Loader II. What do you all think? Maybe someone can explain how the LS1 edit works or give my some other options. Will the car have problems without reprogramming?

LS1 Edit is a software program that interfaces to your car with a special cable. It allows you to make a wide range of changes and is the most robust editing package you can buy. There are different versions of LS1 defined by licensing. Instead of paying the $550 myself for LS1 Edit I opted to get in on a $99 basic tuning special LG Motorsports was having at the CF Cruise-In. If you aren't having any air/fuel or dyno tuning done at the moment it's the way to go. I see that LG Morotsports is about 3 hrs away from you. Give them a call and inquire about the gear scaling, shift points, shift firmness, fan settings and removal of torque management.
if your not needing fine detail type tuning, then you can buy a handhelp programmer that is easy to use.
"Predator" is one such device.
The Predator will work, but not for the 97-98 C5's. Hypertech will not scalle to the 3:42's either. There aren't that many optins for an early production C5.
Mike, you need to get some 3.73's. You were right in one of your past
posts, were you were thinking maybe you should change to 3.73.
The gears are great and pull hard all the way up. Every shift is in the
power band. :D
I have ridden in and drove both a car with SY3500 and 3.42's and a car with SY3500 and 3.73's. The 3.73's will put you back much harder, and the pull up thru the gears is fantastic. The main problem is cost. I have a set up 3.42 gears and a SY3500 sitting in the garage if anyone is interested.
