Default Scan Tests: Need answers!!!

I took my 98 C5 in for fuel guage showing empty when full and the read-out showing on the dash. Their scan and pin point test code P1431 fuel sensor level said to add fuel detergent an use a different fuel. If this does not work they will rewire the fuel level sensor. They charged me 39.50 for the test. Is this not covered with my extended warranty?

Also my check traction control, and abs cel lights flashed on the dash. They checked this also. the test code c1225 said it was the left front wheel sensor. If it persists it would require further diagnosis. and they cleared the code. They charged me 39.50 for this check also. Both were checked today Is this also not covered?

Thanks :skep:

I guess it all depends on which extended warranty you have and what the conditions of it are. It would seem to be covered under most of them.

They charged you for diagnoses, but should have submitted a claim to your extended warranty as to what would fix the issues.

Most extended warranties will not pay for diagnoses, they will only reimburse for the actual parts replacement or repair :yesnod:

Before they go tearing into your car have them look at bulletin 02-06-04-010 that addresses this problem (see link below - item is most of the way down the page under "cars")

They evidently have a software update to address this situation. The GM site says NOT to replace sensors etc.

You might also search the Forum (recent) there was a thread about the fuel gage and sulfer in the gas - that thread may also have mentioned the software update.
