Default Traction control/check engine light

One year ago coming back from Big Bear (California) (in a 1999 convertible with stick shift) when we reached the base of the mountain and got on the highway the following happened - warning bells, service traction control, check engine light and reduced power. Pulled off the highway and turned car off. Waited 5 minutes and restarted - everything was normal except check engine light. Got home and started car a few hours later and everything was normal. This year at Big Bear the service traction control came on at start up. Turned car off and restarted - everything was normal. Left Big Bear and the same thing as above happened again when I got down the mountain and onto the highway. I was accussed of over using the brakes (I disagree) the first time, the second time I was conscious of using the transmission not the brakes. Help!!!!!!

First thing I would recommend is to stay away from Big Bear. You knew that was coming, right. Second thing would be to check your codes in the DIC and see what's actually going on. http://www.c5forum.com/ayc/dtcdic.php This can be done with the engine running.

I had the same problem. I have a 99 six speed and whenever I'd get on it, with the TC turned off, it'd light up like a Christmas tree. And, after I got a line lock, it would still do. Took it in to our local Vette guy and he checked it out. It was a sticky valve. If you tapped on it it was okay, but, since I have the extended warranty I had it replaced. Now, even smokin' it'll say service TC, but the lights don't come on or stay on which is normal. Good luck dude.
