I have a 03 convertible with a problem. The panel behind the seats will pop when you push back in the seat and will pop when you lean forward. The dealer said that it's a thin sheet of metal and can't believe it so flimsy. I comtacted customer service at the GM web sight and there only answer was to not let the seat back so far. Being over 6' tall I have to let it back. You can even push on it with your hand and hear the popping. My 01 convertible did not have this problem. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or if they have a cure.
I have a 2003 and am over 6', but I don't have the seat all the way back so I have never experienced any flex in the panel behind the seats. I would expect this area to be thin as typically there is not going to be much pushing on it.
Are you having a problem with the seats rocking? (search archives)
Yes both sides are the same. No cracks. I think if the panel was put on a metal brake and some slight bends from corner to corner would do the trick. Like the way they do sheetmetal.
I did a quick look, but didn't see anything (doesn't mean it isn't there
 )
