Re: How best to launch C5 Coupe with automatic? (2000^C5)
You can rev it more, I was just using 1000 as a conservative example.
Some people that have aftermarket converters load them up at the line by reving it to 2000rpm as example.
I bring up the revs with the rightfoot while on the brakes with the left foot. This tightens up slack in the drivetrain against the brakes. Parts usually break from drivetrain shock at start (given traction), just ask those M6 guys. :p: ;)

One thing to note is that some guys turn of all the TM and raise the shift pressures with LS1Edit. In some cases this actually causes SLOWER shifts
Raising shift pressure with Edit will always cause slower shifts. You have to lower values to speed shifts up. :steering:
Re: How best to launch C5 Coupe with automatic? (mgaskins)
How would you expect we achieved our lowest elapsed times?
Actually guys, we achieved our best times by just taking our right foot off the brake, then stomping the gas with the same foot. Surprise, surprise, surprise.
We'll have to look into some of your suggestions on our next attempt.

Raising shift pressure with Edit will always cause slower shifts.
And is a good way to nuke your 1-2 and/or 3-4 clutch packs. More so if you have increased the shift firmness. Increase the line pressure and shift firmness can easily make the total pressure hit 0( or close to it ) and cause the clutches to burn up as I have discovered.
Re: How best to launch C5 Coupe with automatic? (mgaskins)
I must be missing something here! In the poll the last two choices leave the traction control ON -- why in the world would anyone do that!? And why would you hold the brake with your RIGHT foot and then shift it to the accelerator!?
Re: How best to launch C5 Coupe with automatic? (1g1yy)
I prefer traction control off and active handling off. Power brake with the left foot and bring the rpms up to about 2600-2800 rpms with the right. On the third yellow release the brake and mash hard on the gas with the right foot. Best 60' = 1.66!

If you have a stock converter, then I would launch somewhere around 1200 rpm. This should work pretty well with a stock setup, in terms of tires.
If you graduate to a higher stall, say a PT 2400 or higher, then I would launch somewhere around 2000 rpm. Of course, you will need some better meat that can grab so you might want to start thinking about e.t. streets or DR's. Hope this helps.

I agree wit leaving it in 3rd, and buy a stall, look at my times! I've done better once or twice also! My car makes very good rwtq considering the parts. Drag radials will really help as well. If your not at the track, I just leave traction control on, but at the track, for best ET, leave it in third, TC off, have one foot on the brake, the other on the gas ever so slightly, and if on street tires, ROLL onto the throttle as you let off on the track.
With some properly heated sticky icky tires, I tourqe brake to 2000RPM, let off the brake with my left foot, and hammer my right, and boy dues it push you in your seat :D
All in all, an A4 Corvette with stock Run flats is extremely hard to launch. In fact, and traction is in fact futile with runcrap tirers :D I went to pilots for the street, and at least I don't go side ways with more then half throttle now :D For the track, BFG Drag radials do great I think up to about 400RWHP.
