missing bolt on diff.
it looks like i am missing a bolt on the top right side
of my differential. this is one of the gold colored bolts
around the side plates. anyone else ? should there be a bolt in this location?
also noticed some fluid on the body directly behind thia area. :confused:

THAT IS NOT A BROKEN BOLT.
Its a locating stud. I made that same mistake and tried to remove it with a bolt extrator. :lol: Stupid me.
I would guess you're up there because you have a rearend leak?? Most likely the o-ring for the left/driver's side cover needs to be replaced. You can check your diff fluid level, clean the whole area off and maybe get lucky that the fluid was overfilled and coming out the vent. Chances are its the o-ring.
The repair is not easy. To get to the o-ring, you must drop the left muffler pipe, pull the wheel, undo the upper a-arm, pull the half-shaft and the rubber boot from the cover. Takes a pro about 4 hours.

thanks for the reply. the leak appears to have been a one time event.
it looks like it vented because the stain is on the body behind the diff. as if the car was in motion at the time of the leak. probably during the trip to nashville/bowling green for the 50th. I will keep an eye on this.
