The only company I know that can do this right now is DynoTech Engineering, a forum vendor. They can upgrade a 2.73 diff to any ratio. I recently had a 3.15 diff rebuilt to 4.10's by DTE and it is sweet. Plus, they offer a 24 month/24K mile warranty on their rebuilds.
how much does DynoTech Engineering charge to retrofit a 2.73 carrier to 3.42 gears??? keeping in mind that a used low mileage 3.42 carrier can be had for around $500 or so,
I'm not sure of the 2.73 upgrade price versus the others but I doubt it's that much of a difference. If you talk to Phil, I'm sure he'd be more than happy to fill you in on the details. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with him and he was very forthcoming in DynoTech's methods.
